Martha Ankomah Denies Court Ordering LilWin to Pay GH¢300K, Demands Public Apology

Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah has refuted reports suggesting that the court has ordered Kumawood actor LilWin to pay a fine of GH¢300,000 as part of their ongoing legal battle.

Speaking in an interview on Nhyira FM, which was shared on Instagram on March 2, 2025, Ankomah set the record straight, stating that such claims are false. According to her, the lawsuit is focused on securing a public apology rather than monetary compensation.

Martha Ankomah’s Stand on the Lawsuit

The actress, who is still in court with LilWin over defamatory statements he made about her in a viral video, expressed her disappointment over misleading reports.

“It is not true; it is sad, and I don’t know who has been writing those stories and giving such captions. When we went to court, the judge ordered them to write an apology and present it at our next hearing on April 1, 2025. If the court is convinced with the apology, he would therefore come out and publicly apologise,” Ankomah explained.

She emphasized that she does not require any financial compensation from LilWin, except legal fees incurred during the case.

“You may recall that I was once granted an interview on Peace FM, where I said that I didn’t need money from LilWin. All I want is a public apology. Maybe what we would take from him is our legal fees. It is not good for someone to spread false news about you. I want him to do the right thing so people would know that the law works in this country,” she added.

LilWin’s Apology & Martha Ankomah’s Response

While LilWin previously issued an apology, Ankomah believes it lacked sincerity. She mentioned that fans and the general public also felt the apology was not genuine.

“All those who listened and watched his apology said that it did not go well because he didn’t even trust any of his statements. So, we want the right thing to be done, and that is all,” she stated.

Background of the Lawsuit

Martha Ankomah filed a defamation lawsuit against LilWin on February 14, 2024, following a viral video in which LilWin made disparaging remarks about her role in the Ghanaian film industry.

The actress argued that LilWin’s statements damaged her reputation and that of the brands she represents. The claims suggested that Ankomah looked down on Kumawood actors and refused to collaborate with them due to perceived low-quality storylines.

Martha Ankomah’s Legal Demands

The lawsuit outlines several reliefs, including:

  • Compensatory damages for reputational harm.
  • Aggravated damages for the malicious nature of LilWin’s statements.
  • A public apology and retraction of the defamatory remarks.
  • An injunction preventing LilWin from making further defamatory statements.
  • Settlement of legal costs associated with the case.

As the court hearing continues, all eyes are on the proceedings to see if LilWin will issue a genuine public apology or face further legal consequences.
