Akufo-Addo Directs Former Appointees to Remain Accountable

The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagba, has shed light on a major directive given by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to his former appointees. The former President asked all officials who served under his administration to remain available for accountability purposes and to cooperate with any investigations initiated by the current administration.

Ahiagba stressed that Akufo-Addo remains committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring that all appointees are held accountable for their actions while in office. He assured the public that he would be available at all times to clarify governance issues.

“Matters to do with accountability, our people will be here to answer them. In fact, there is an effective commitment right from the former president himself. He has given directions to ensure that our people are prepared for that.

“I don’t want to go into the details of what he said but there is that disposition and indication from him [Akufo-Addo] that we should stay and account for our record,” Ahiagba told JoyNews on February 19, 2025.

Underlining the former president’s confidence in the performance of his administration, Ahiagba noted that Akufo-Addo is adamant that his government has put the nation’s interests first and has successfully delivered on its mandate. He maintained that with time, the true impact of Akufo-Addo’s leadership will be recognized.

“He is clear in his mind that we came to do the best we can and I believe that when the dust settles, Ghana will see what we have done for the 8 years.”

The statement reaffirms the former president’s stance on accountability and his administration’s commitment to transparent governance.
